Kermit The Frog And Miss Piggy: A ‘Heart-Felt’ Split!

Kermit The Frog And Miss Piggy: A ‘Heart-Felt’ Split!

The brilliant people behind the Muppets have come up with another great piece of satire, spoofing the recent wave of high-profile celebrity divorces — and getting in a decent promotion for their new TV show — by announcing the breakup one of the oldest and most beloved (if somewhat dysfunctional) celebrity couples in America.

Miss Piggy made this announcement Tuesday on Facebook:

After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, Kermit the Frog and moi have made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship. We will continue to work together on television (“The Muppets”/Tuesdays 8pm this fall on ABC) and in all media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe. However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al. This is our only comment on this private matter… unless we get the right offer. Thank you for your understanding.

Kermit the Frog also posted a nearly identical message — but with a subtle difference of view as to who exactly made the decision:

The Brooklyn Museum’s Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art presented an award to a very special celebrity Thursday, for her indomitable spirit that has inspired children to achieve new heights. But why give an award to a Muppet? “She has spirit. She has determination. She has grit,” Sackler explained.

Click above to watch this legendary star of the screen declare that she is a proud feminist — and also, a proud “Porcine-American.” Then share this video!
