Six More Republicans Who Want To See Romney’s Tax Returns

Mitt Romney’s latest excuse for refusing to release his tax returns — his complaint that Senator John Kerry’s wife “has hundreds of millions of dollars, [and] she never released her tax returns”  – isn’t gaining traction. Perhaps this reflects the fact that when he became the Democratic presidential nominee in 2004, Kerry released 20 years of tax returns — exactly 19 more than Romney’s lone 2010 release.

Romney’s continued reluctance to resolve the tax issue has led to increasing demands from both sides of the aisle for him to “stop demanding an apology” (as Republican strategist John Weaver put it) and finally come clean. Last week we noted six Republicans who want to see Romney’s tax returns, and as the candidate has ducked and dithered, that number has swelled.

Think about how a couple of weeks back, Dick Cheney had a fundraiser, For ROMoNEY, at his Ranch Palace in Wyoming, then a day or two later visits the Pentagon to make a speech whose main purpose was to secure DOD funds for “the next war”. A day or two later ROMoNEY is in Israel speaking of war with Iran. ROMNEY is PROFITEER of war. LOOK OUT.

And the reason why President Obama and at least 6 other Republican congressmen are asking for more of Romney’s tax returns is because for the last 30 years EVERY Presidential candidate has handed over at least 10 years of tax returns — so that’s why.

        I did hear Obama speak of his “coming to the Lord” once, he is pretty close to the vest about it, for some reason. He spends a lot of time defending Islam, the non-violent, (non-extremist)types, to stay politically correct. If you remember, Bush did the same thing after 9-11. And yes you’re right MORMONISM IS NOT CHRISTIANITY. also GOD IS NOT A REPUBLICAN, nor is he a democrat.
        If I had to say who I would vote for based on The GOOD BOOK….it would be Obama…..see Mark 12.4: 12-44. Also the Book of ACTS strongly suggest Socialism.

      Couldn’t agree more. This issue of Romney’s tax and SEC filings with regard to Bain are weighed against his qualifications to even BE an honest executive/CEO of a corporation much less to attain the height of the presidency. If this issue is not cleared up prior to the Republican Convention, I don’t see how anyone could stand in support to nominate Romney? If he is covering up something and that something is against the law, then Romney’s first stop is a Court of Law. Reminder, The Boston Globe refused and did not retract their findings with regard to his Bain departure/involvement after 1999. And even prior to this, his opponent in the race for governorship in Massachusetts had brought this issue to light but it was not questioned the way it is being done now. Truly, it is a serious matter!

      I hear you when it comes to jobs. Obama and the Democrats have been trying, but get nothing but roadblocks and filibusters from Repubicans. On the night of Obama’s inauguration, Republican Congressional insiders met and mapped a strategy to “show united and unyielding opposition to the president’t economic policies” from day one. And the Republicans in Congress have pretty much succeeded. Obama had an “American Jobs Act” last fall that would have put as many as 2 million construction workers, cops, teachers, and firefighters back to work (at least that’s what the economic forecasters said) — but the Congressional Republicans dynamited it. In Obama’s more recent “Bring Jobs Home Act” which includes a 20% tax credit to businesses to help pay for costs associated with moving jobs located overseas back to America. The act would also close loopholes on companies that continue to ship U.S. jobs overseas by disallowing a deduction companies currently get to take when they outsource jobs — again the Republicans have stonewalled the Democrats on this jobs bill too. The worse the Republicans can make the unemployment rate, the better they like it. Based on what they are doing in Congress, they obviously are not for jobs for middle class, working class or working poor people. By their actions the Republicans have shown that they do not care about those people. They are only interested in winning elections. The Republicans have tried to overturn the Affordable Care Act 32 times — they tried again this past week — well after the Supreme Court voted as constitutional. 32 times! That is what the Republicans are spending their time doing — not trying to improve the job situation in America.

      Obama inherited one of the worst economies on record from George W. Bush. Even with all the roadblocks the teapublicans have put up the economy is gradually improving. Could it be better? Yes, but that requires the cooperation of the teapublicans who have pledged to make Obama a one term president no matter the cost to the nation. As for Obamacare which is based on Romneys plan, Romney called it a penalty not a tax. Have you read what’s in Obamacare. Children can be kept on parents insurance until they are 26, can’t be turned down for pre-existing conditions, no lifetime limits and preventative care are just a few of the benefits. Hospitals and doctors offices will not have to eat the costs for the uninsured which is then passed on to those that do have insurance. If anyone was a lying SOB it was GWB and now Mitt Romney. If he has nothing to hide he should release his tax returns for the last 11 years and a birth certificate that is not stamped “copy” to prove he really was born in the United States and not Mexico.

    I agree, along with tax returns from the last 10 years, he should also submit his birth certificate–one that can be valoidadted of course. Maybe we should send some investigators down there and interview some Mexicans who might swear he was born there? As far as taxes go, anybody who wants to see them, might have to see if he’s filed any in Swizerland and/or the Cayman Islands as well (just kidding–or am I?)

    Whenever a candidate, prominent businessman, bank, financial institution, hedge fund or investment firm, refuses to release any tax returns with the exception of 2011, then something is up. If everything is, or was above board, Mitt Romney would not be refusing to disclose other tax returns, and other information about his earnings, whether those earnings were from work, investments, etc. But then his tax return from 2011 WOULD BE OKAY since Mitt Romney had decided to run for the presidency months earlier and he had time to clean up his act. And who knows, there are plenty of high paid and powerful accountants who are able to alter or clean up income tax documents, investment documents, etc. Look at the financiers, mortgage companies, and banks like J.P. Morgan, Citi Group, Sally Mae, and Countryside, etc. who were involved in fraudulent activities until they got busted in 2006-2007 and whose books LOOKED fine yet were set up to cover up their embezzlement, mismanagement, and other unhanded or illegal activities. For enough money there are a lot of accountants, tax lawyers, etc who could alter Mitts financial info. to cover things up. I do not think, at this point, if his money trail is disclosed by Mr. Romney, that I would even trust those documents to be the truth.

    Something sure is smelly about him. Is he hiding funds off shore somewhere? Sure looks that way…Note the convention is still 6 weeks out…he is not even the “official” candidate, yet, and he is having this many problems? Oh boy! Needless to say, the Repubs are not very happy with Mitt in the first place…he seems to be the lesser of all the evils. I would have a problem voting for a man who I don’t “know” anything about. Especially the fact that he is NOT keeping his loot in an onshore bank among other thing.

Even when these bozos lose they think it’s a win.. I guess it’s because they don’t take “NO” for an answer (their 33rd attempt to bust Obamacare attests to that). If they think the public is fooled into thinking their doing their job by concentrating on one bill then they truly are an ignorant lot.

As long as we have a lax (or rather no) penalty for wrong doing or lack of progress, they will keep thinking their above the law and continue the corruption. Both parties are guilty of underhanded tactics but it’s the individual, not the party (which takes away their responsibilities).. A voter should never elect on party but individual.. It may take a little more time to decide but if you do your homework first, all you’ll have to look for is the name AND it will give you a deeper understanding of who you’re actually voting for. Then again, I’ts been rumored that some people can actually whistle through their ass hole.

Mitt’s dad was not Mexican, although he happened to have been born in Mexico. George Romney was born a citizen of the United States, to American parents. He legitimately ran in primaries against Nixon for the Republican nomination in 1968. That wouldn’t have been possible had he been born Mexican.

    Gov. Romney and his surrogates are trying to characterize these questions as “swift-boating.” That couldn’t be farther from the truth. The “swift-boat” attacks were flat-out lies and smears on the part of campaign surrogates. What the Governor is experiencing are straight-up questions on the part of a political opponent regarding the truth about his record. It’s the record THAT HE’S RUNNING ON. He’s supposed to be the genius businessman who’s going to straighten out our books, so he ought to be able to proudly answer questions about his taxes, or how he got $100 million into an IRA. If he’s been following the rules, I don’t see why that’s such a big problem.

    I’m sort of still hoping that Mitt’s little get-together with Bobby Jindal yesterday in Baton Rouge will help him see the light on ‘disclosure’. ‘Reform’ and ‘openness’ in government is all Jindal is about down here (Lol), and he could have shown Romney some real vice-presidential grit yesterday by advising him to turn over all the income tax stuff.     Max Keiser said in a recent interview that his tax records will reveal that he’s worth Billions, not the 250 million that’s often quoted. That’s the only way he could be earning the interest money amounts he is. Do we want a billionaire in the White House? Subsidized in getting there by more billionaires?

    I could not understand why he was refusing to release them as what could be in them thats any worse than is being speculated on. I just read an article that may answer that question.

    The higher cost in releasing them may be that they prove he is guilty of voter fraud. This is the claim in an article by one of the UKs broadsheets, the Guardian. They say that he voted in the special election called after the death of Ted Kennedy. To vote you had to be resident in Massachusetts. However, before the election, he had sold his house in the State and bought one in California. He claimed that he had returned to live in Massachusetts, and was living in the basement of his sons house.

    You read that right, a guy worth hundreds of millions of dollars choose to live in a basement. Apparently its hard to prove or disprove whether or not someone is living in someone elses basement. However, some of the tax returns in question cover the period in question. If they show his address as California then hes guilty of a felony.

    Given the zeal with which the Republican party is combating voter fraud around the country, surely they would wish to see the returns published in order to dispel this allegation.

I think it is great that he is a wealthy man but he should follow the same protocol as other previous candidates. Too, he should pay taxes the same as we pay taxes between 25 and 30 percent. I also think that he should not give tax breaks to the wealthy while the majority of Americans have to pay the majority of taxes at a higher rate. I thought about voting for him but since I heard Clinton and his analysis of the facts, I do not trust the Republicans. They protect big business and ensure that they get the breaks even at the expense of the majority of Americans.

Romney’s own father said it was important to show your tax returns so people can judge your character. If he. say, made millions investing overseas and then tells us how he will create jobs in the US, well, it smacks of hypocrisy. If he did some things that are questionable, tax wise, then he may have the IRS take a fresh look.     Romney holds a preachers license.Preachers don’t pay taxes! I think this is the reason Romney won’t release his taxes, because he didn’t pay any tax.He is using the church to hide behind and cheat the Americans out of millions of dollars.He is a total loser and a huge sinner. He is not a Mormon!

      Who ever heard of a “preacher’s License??” I knew most ministers have to be ordained, after completing their schooling/training, but a license??? Preachers do have to pay taxes on income, most have to have a regular job to be able to be a “preacher” Jeeze, I don’t like that word in today’s society. It reminds me of long ago days when people formed their own church following one who “preached” the word. We call ours ministers or pastors. The church is usually exempt from taxes as most are a non-profit-church. You need to research, and if I am wrong, tell me and I will gladly apologize.

    His not releasing his tax returns told me that he has something to hide. I feel confident that there are quasi legal tax dodges that he and his high priced tax accountants have used. Put under a microscope, they would not have passed the smell test. Of course, there just is the possibility that his total taxes paid was so low that it would have been embarrassing. I also believe that he gave more money to his cult religion, Mormonism, than he paid in taxes. I cannot believe that we allow these large tithing gifts to be entirely written off his taxes. The guy is just not trust worthy or credible. Thank goodness he is not our President.
