Right-Wing Paper Slams Trump For Pushing ‘Vile’ Conspiracy Theory

President Donald Trump has never been shy about promoting absurd far-right conspiracy theories, including birtherism (the racist claim that President Barack Obama wasn't really born in the United States). And recently, Trump has been floating the conspiracy theory that Never Trump conservative Joe Scarborough — who hosts Morning Joe on MSNBC with liberal Mika Brzezinski, his wife — murdered a former employee. And the editorial board of the right-wing Washington Examiner slams Trump for it in a scathing editorial published on May 27.

The former employee that conspiracy theorists have accused of killing was Lori Klausutis, who suffered from a heart condition and was only 28 when, on July 19, 2001, she fell and fatally hit her head. At the time, Scarborough was a Florida Republican serving in the U.S. House of Representatives. Scarborough, who is now one of Trump's most vehement critics on the right, has since left the GOP because of his disdain for Trumpism.

#EndorseThis: Mika Says Delusional Ivanka Trump Is Running For POTUS

In the movie Soylent Green, future New York City is an overcrowded swamp of pollution, violence, and discord. Yet the few scenes involving politicians show the civic leaders in a smiling, optimistic mood, giving nice speeches.

White House figures have to have a little “Soylent Green” in them. Melting down on camera while screaming that America will never unite? That wouldn’t do as much good for the country as “Yes, We Can.” Even when times are tough. But there’s definitely a fine line, and Ivanka Trump is an especially egregious (some would say oblivious) when it comes to crossing it.

In today’s clip, Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC says that the First Daughter is living in a parallel universe of Instagram selfies and domestic joy while the rest of us deal with her father.

It’s actually kind of funny when you think about it…but Mika lays down another theory of Ivanka that is no laughing matter. Good thing she tags it with the leavening “or something,” or else the whole viewing audience may have fainted over coffee.

Is Ivanka made of people?

SNL Cold Open: Bill Murray IS Steve Bannon On ‘Morning Joe’

SNL Cold Open: Bill Murray IS Steve Bannon On ‘Morning Joe’

It’s morning on Saturday Night Live, and that means Morning Joe, hosted by those cooing lovebirds Joe Scarborough (Alex Moffat) and Mika Brzezinski (Kate McKinnon), along with their revolted sidekick Willie Geist (Mikey Day). The guest is of course author Michael Wolff (Fred Armisen), played with appropriate asperity as he reveals the White House secrets he left out of his bestseller Fire and Fury. And who appears next but surprise guest Steve Bannon (Bill Murray, who embodies the mad, disheveled presidential adviser and self-styled kingmaker).

Bannon insists he will return to dominate national politics. Meanwhile, he’s working on a web series: “Cucks in Cars Getting Coffee.” Listening to Bannon’s plans for the next presidential cycle, Mika is despondent. “The America we loved is over! No one is coming to save us and no one can!”

Unless it’s…Oprah (Leslie Jones), who shows up to explain why she is even more qualified to be president than Trump. She is an actual billionaire, so who knows?

Why Joe Scarborough Says He’s Abandoning The GOP

Why Joe Scarborough Says He’s Abandoning The GOP

Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough made a surprising announcement on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday: The former Florida Republican Congressman is giving his party the boot.

“You changed your mind about Donald Trump. Why haven’t other Republicans done the same?” Colbert asked, drawing on Scarborough’s lifelong allegiance to the GOP.

“I think it’s inexplicable,” Scarborough answered. “This is well before Donald Trump was elected president that my party has betrayed their core values.”

Scarborough supported Jeb Bush in the Republican primary and backed John Kasich once Bush dropped out. He claims he was never “pro-Trump”, much to the dismay of the president, who insisted in a tweetstorm that he no longer watches Scarborough’s morning show.

According to Scarborough, Republicans had “a thousand” reasons not to vote for their candidate, from Trump’s initial Muslim ban proposal, to his attack on Judge Gonzalo Curiel, to his feigning ignorance of David Duke and the KKK.

“Time and time and time again they turned the other way,” he lamented. “And they’re doing the same thing now. And it’s actually disgusting.”

“You have to ask yourself, what exactly is the Republican party willing to do?” Scarborough asked. “How far are they willing to go? How much of this country and our values are they willing to sell out?”

“But aren’t you a Republican?” Colbert wanted to know.

“I am a Republican,” admitted the Morning Joe host. “But I’m not going to be a Republican anymore. I’ve got to become an Independent.”
