Donald Trump Jr. Sells T-Shirts Mocking Alec Baldwin Movie Set Tragedy

Donald Trump Jr. Sells T-Shirts Mocking Alec Baldwin Movie Set Tragedy

Donald Trump Jr. is using a tragedy to mock the actor who skewered his father on Saturday Night Live. A T-shirt that reads “Guns Don't Kill People, Alec Baldwin Kills People" is selling for $27.99 on a merchandise site linked to the former president's namesake son. The reference is to last week's killing of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was hit by discharge from a prop gun while working on the Baldwin film Rust. Baldwin, the film's star, was handling the weapon from which the fatal shot was fired. The movie's director was injured too. Trump Jr.'s merchandise site also sells shirts t...

Short On Cash, Trump Campaign Loses Pace With Biden

Reprinted with permission from DCReport

Donald Trump's campaign is so desperate to raise cash that it's begun offering deep discounts on the merch it sells. The campaign's Columbus Day "flash sale" came amid signs that the campaign could go broke before balloting ends Nov. 3.

"For a limited time, YOU can use code COLUMBUS to get 30 percent OFF your ENTIRE ORDER," screamed an email I received over the weekend, the latest in an endless stream of pitches offering Trump goods.

Trump Uses Hurricane To Promote New Campaign Hat

Trump Uses Hurricane To Promote New Campaign Hat

Trump wore a new hat while being briefed on Hurricane Dorian in photos distributed by the White House over the weekend.

By Wednesday, the hat was on sale on Trump’s official campaign website for $40.00, labeled “Official USA 45th Presidential Hat – Navy.”

“Did President Trump use Hurricane Dorian and the White House press office to launch a new product on his campaign website? It sure looks that way,” Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a corruption watchdog, wrote in a statement.

Trump’s campaign site touted itself as “the only place online to purchase the Official USA rope hat worn by 45th President-Elect Donald J. Trump, himself.” And proceeds from the hat will go to Trump’s reelection campaign.

There is also a very good chance that Trump himself will see some of the money from the hat sales. The two committees tasked with his reelection have thus far spent at least $379,383 at Trump properties.

Because Trump has not divested from his holdings, money spent at his properties means that Trump profits personally.

Trump has previously used the intense international exposure he gets from the presidency to model hats that have then been put up for sale by his campaign.

In August of 2017, the White House released photos of Trump wearing branded hats as part of the response to Hurricane Harvey. The hats were simultaneously on sale in Trump’s online store.

Last November, Trump went to the scene of wildfires in California sporting a campaign hat.

“The fact that the president has yet again showed up to a natural disaster wearing a hat sold exclusively by his campaign for $40 shows that he can’t tell the difference between a tragedy and a campaign rally–or a money making opportunity,” CREW noted at the time.

The incidents show Trump using all the trappings of the presidency to showcase his campaign merchandise, which leads to sales and personal profits. The cycle continues.

Will Trump Follow His Own ‘Order’ To Stop Selling Chinese Products?

Will Trump Follow His Own ‘Order’ To Stop Selling Chinese Products?

From duffel bags to ties, to plush robes in his hotels, Trump manufactures quite a list of products in China, despite a demand on Friday that American companies stop working with the country.

“Our great American companies are hereby ordered to immediately start looking for an alternative to China,” Trump bellowed on Twitter Friday morning.

Yikes. That’s going to be quite a dilemma for the Trump organization, Trump hotels, and Trump’s daughter, Ivanka.

Here are just a few Trump-branded items manufactured in China, according to a July 2018 NBC News report.

  • Donald J. Trump eyeglasses: For only $93, these square-framed glasses come in black, brown, and for the adventurous out there, brown crystal.
  • Deluxe Trump Hotels Spa Robe: Described as a “luxurious spa robe,” this robe could be yours for only $125.
  • Signature Small Duffle [sic] Bag: Listed for $100, this small bag comes complete “lined with gold Trump crest in repeating pattern,” and if that wasn’t enough, an additional Trump crest on the exterior.
  • Signature Shoe Bag: On sale for just $39.99, this black shoe bag has a zippered side pocket for “functionality,” but don’t fear that the shoe bag is just functional. On the side, the “Trump crest gives it a stylish flair.”
  • Trump Golf Collector Medallion: Yes, there is a medallion. Of course, there is a Trump medallion. The $15 collectible has the Trump crest “featured in the center and is surrounded by the names of every Trump golf course worldwide.”
  • DOWNLITE Year Round 230 TC EnviroLoft Down Alternative S/T Comforter: The comforter used at Trump hotels helps employ workers in China. Same with the pillows Trump campaign officials rest upon when Trump spends taxpayer dollars staying at his own properties.
  • Basically all the stuff at Trump hotels: According to a 2016 Washington Post report, the following items at Trump hotels are all made in China: shampoo, body wash, moisturizers, shower caps, laundry bags, shoe bags, pet collars, pet leashes, and bath towels.

The Trump store does have a section dedicated to products made in America, alluding to the fact that the rest of the products for sale were made elsewhere.

Shipping jobs overseas rather than investing in American workers is a multi-generational endeavor in the Trump family.

Ivanka Trump, daughter of Donald Trump and senior White House adviser, manufactures many of her clothing products in China. Former White House photographer Pete Souza tweaked a previous Trump demand that American companies manufacture in the U.S. by posting a photo of Ivanka Trump shoes clearly marked “Made in China.”
